Peak District

The weekend after the Queen's Jubilee weekend we rented a cabin in the Peak District National Park. The Peak District is the second visited National Park in the World and has some beautiful rolling hills and peaks, (hence the name).  We wanted to show Burt some of the beautiful countryside of England. It was an amazing weekend spent walking, drinking, eating and playing games.

The cottage we stayed at was a converted diary barn. It was near the tiniest village called Ford. Ford had about five house in it. We felt like like we were in the middle of now where. We didn't have cell phone service and no wifi in the cottage- perfect! On our drive there, the GPS kept saying turn on road or no road. That is how rural it felt. Just what we wanted and needed.

It was so beautiful on the inside and we fell in love with the place. I could have lived there!

The upstairs bedrooms

The living room with a log burner

Kit and Burt getting the music ready for the night.

One of the views outside. Behind the trees was a field filled with sheep.

the path leading from the house to the little creek below. There was a tire swing down there also. I spent everyday on the the swing. loved it.

The cottage was on a farm. This is the sign on the road to our cottage.

The Town of Ford:
The main road in Ford

The bridge where Kate and Will taught us how to play Pooh Sticks, which is the game where you throw a two sticks in the river and see which one comes out first from under the bridge.
(a game I am sure all of us have played, just didn't know it had a name)

The creek that was flooded from all of the rain.
