Flight of the Elams: A different view of London

After the peak district, we had another visitor. Cody came to work in London for 3 weeks. Kit went up to visit him a couple of days before me to go to the Lovebox music festival and have some brother time.

Whenever we have been to London in the past, we have been tourists ourselves or with other people who are tourists also, so we have tended to hang out and see a lot of the tourist sights. Since Cody had been to London before we decided to check out the other neighborhoods of London we hadn't seen yet.
Cody was staying near Belsize Park area. Here are some pictures he took of the neighborhood he was staying in

I came down to London on Saturday morning.

On Saturday we went Camden Lock Market.

Kit had been there the day before and said it was a must see.

Camden Locks

The Camden Lock Market use to be a timber yard where they unload timber from river barges to take to the inland canals. The Stables was originally a horse hospital for the horses that helped carry the loads and direct the barges

It is now a place of food and shops

We also went to Borough Market which is suppose to have some great street food and food vendors. We had just eaten an amazing lunch at Hache where we had the best tuna steak sandwich ever, so we didn't eat here but will definitely go back to try some of the delicious looking food.

After the Borough market we walked over to a pub on the Thames and got a drink and enjoyed the rare sunshine.

(lately London has been getting alot more sunshine than we do)

After our drinks we walked to the Tate Museum and then by the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

This is a re-creation of the Globe Theatre where many of Shakespeare's plays were performed. It burned down in the 1613.

We met Cody's friend Phil who took us to a secret bar under a restaurant. When you came into the restaurant you said you were here for drinks and then they opened up a old smeg refrigerator that had stairs down to the bar. It was a proper speakeasy and very cool.

The name of the bar was the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town and there was cat food on every table.

We had a late night dinner at a great pizza place in the Shoreditch neighborhood. It was a great day.

the next day we headed to Hyde Park to walk around for while. We have seen the edges of Hyde Park but had never walked through it before. I recommend a stroll through if you are in London.
