Jaffa Race
The Cadbury Chocolate Festival was going on last week and to end the festival they have a Jaffa Race. Jaffas are orange flavored chocolate coated candies. They let the Jaffa's go at the top of Baldwin Street (the steepest street in the world) and they race down to the bottom. The top three Jaffas win people prizes like 1000 dollars of gas and 1000 dollars of groceries. We were really hoping our Jaffa would win, but no luck. This was also the ten year anniversary of the Jaffa race, so they did a second race with purple jaffas, which the commentators were especially excited about. They kept going on about how we were seeing history in the making. It was alot of fun and a great. (we have a video but it's sideways)

We are in enjoying the sunshine and weather in the 50s. Not too bad for a New Zealand winter Day.

The Keelens
(the picture is from 2006, I think it is about time we had a family picture again)
My parents are coming for a visit in 5 weeks!! We are so excited to show them around Dunedin and New Zealand. We are meeting them in Auckland (on the North Island) and then spending 3 days there. After that we are driving to Rotorua where there are geysers, hot springs, traditional Maori houses and a lot of beautiful New Zealand sites. Then we are flying to Dunedin and hanging out around here. We are so pumped!! It is going to be wonderful! The only sad part is not having my brother here. We will miss him and think of him often.

Mid Winter Carnival
The Mid-Winter Carnival was last weekend. The theme was Under the Sea and for three weekends before you could sign up to make a lantern in the parade. We didn't make one this year, but we are going to next year, you get to keep the lantern and be apart of the parade. They had a great turn out this year and 10,000 people showed up, they closed down the streets around the octagon and had food and rides for the children. We had a wonderful time celebrating the returning of the light!

The sunset that night was amazing. Kit and I were walking down the hill to town and we had to turn around over and over because we were so amazed by the sunset. I think it is the best sunset we have seen here in New Zealand.
