London adventures

On our second day in London, we explored some of the neighborhoods. We went to Soho, which is one of our favorite areas to hang out in and eat. We also went to Portobello road, which is known for it's antiques, and boutique shops. Us girls had fun checking out the shops and the street vendors.

Here is Jenni in the living room of the apartment we stayed in. (aka our bedroom) We opted for staying in apartments in all of the cities we were in instead of hotels. This way everyone is together and it actually saved us a lot of money. We have found out that in London and many other European cities they don't have 2 double beds in one room, they might have three single beds in a room though. I recommend apartments to anyone who has a big group traveling together.  (we didn't take many pictures of this apartment but we did of the other ones)

Coventry Street Soho, London

London is huge! We spent many hours riding the tube (subway) around London. Sometimes it amazing me how far underground you actually are. In some places you are 200 ft below the surface. Some quick facts about the London tube: it is the oldest underground railway in the world and the second biggest behind Shanghai.
Here are some pictures of us walking to the tube.

Us girls might have spent a lot of time shopping this day, here is a picture of Kit entertaining himself outside of a vintage clothing shop.

Jenni Loves sweets.  We stopped by many sweets shops along the way, but Jenni was really excited about the hummingbird bakery. She had heard about how wonderful their cupcakes were. Too bad we got there right before closing and we didn't have the best selection.
But we all did enjoy some very yummy whoopie pies. They were delicious!

Kits cousin Steven lives in London and met up with him for dinner. He took us to a yummy Indian restaurant. It was great to see him again and catch up!

Cody and Steven (can you tell there cousins)

We didn't think of taking a picture until we were back in the tube station, so here is another picture of us there. (with out Jenni)

The six of us!

London wouldn't be London with out some Harry Potter. We stayed near the Kings Cross Station and actually got to see Platform 9 and 3/4. I was ready to head off to Hogworts for the rest of the year.

And out of pure coincidence Kit and Cody's oldest childhood friends are in a band, Tweak Bird, and there were playing in London while we were there. The bar just happened to be in walking distance of our apartment. So we surprised them after their show.  Super fun!
