Port Chalmers/ Aramona

On Tuesday, we went to Port Chalmers and then to Aramona. Port Chalmers is a where all of the cruise ships come into and where all of the container ships come to also. My dad really enjoyed watching the logging ships load up with timber. Aramona is a great beach right across from the end of the peninsula where the harbor meets the sea. After walking the spit and the beach, we headed to Carey's Bay Historic hotel, built in 1874 for some great food, beautiful views and good drinks. It is a local hang out and steeped in history. Check out this link if you want to learn more. My dad loved his Ploughman's platter of meats, cheese, breads and dips.
