We had heard that this part of Edinburgh actually doesn't look very much like Dunedin, but since we were in Edinburgh we had to find out for ourselves.
On our walk from the Old Town of Edinburgh to the New Town of Edinburgh, we passed by this beautiful garden in a valley.
We had a great view of the castle from here
a funny pub we walked by
Once we got there, we found the rumors were correct, it didn't really look anything like the Center of Dunedin, the Octagon. However there where many of the same street names.
This would have been what the Octagon in Dunedin was based off of
Here is what it looks like in Dunedin
Kit and I lived off of Stuart Street in Dunedin

This is from near our house, but it looks a bit different.
There was also a George Street with some shops on it in Edinburgh but I didn't take a picture.
This is a picture of George Street in Dunedin
Before we went looking for "Dunedin" we visited the Hollyrood and Arthur's Seat.
This is Hollyrood below. You can see a ridge in the middle of it, that is where we walked.
I forgot I haven't told the story about Kit's back. Basically he threw his back out the first day of our trip and was in a ton of pain throughout the trip. However this did not stop him from thinking he could walk up part of the trail with us. Poor guy, he did everything we did but was in pain the whole time.
This was as far as he got before he had to turn around and go back down.

The castle again
The ocean in the background
We thought we were on our way to the top of Arthur's Seat, but once we got to the top of Hollyrood we realized we had to got back down and up again to get to Arthur's Seat. It had started to rain, so we decided to head back down.
