After living in New Zealand for over a year, and seeing the ocean out of our window every day and then moving away from it, really made us miss the ocean. We loved being able to go to the beach daily if we wanted to, even on those cold, cloudy days we often got in Dunedin they were still magical being on the water. We have always wanted to live on or near the water and Dunedin was the perfect place for that. However, moving to Leicester (which I am told is the city that is the farthest away from the water you can get in the UK), we have had an urge to get back to the sea.
So this past weekend we celebrated our 10 year anniversary together. (our first date was actually on the 13th of August, but this weekend suited us better) and we drove the 3 and half hours, (around London, crazy traffic) to Brighton. I think a reoccurring theme in this blog will be Kit and I trying to find nature and how much we miss it. The Brighton area was the perfect weekend getaway that we needed to recharge ourselves.
As soon as we got off the interstate (motorway here ) we or at least I was in Love with all of the trees we drove through, it kind of reminded us of driving to Destin Florida for a bit. Maybe it was knowing that we were close to the water. The country side around Brighton, Sussex, is beautiful. It is rolling hills, with farmers fields, cows, sheep and old stone cottages and big manor houses in the distance. We didn't do as much exploring in the countryside as I would have liked, but I am positive we will be back to Brighton in the future.
Para-gliders in the countryside
We arrived on Friday around 2:30 to our campsite in Seaford, which is about 10 miles from Brighton. We set up camp and walk over the ridge behind Kit in the picture below to the ocean and let out a huge breath. We were so excited we were practically jumping up and down.
My yummy peach pie I made before leaving, getting eaten right out of the pan.
(really the only way to do it)
Deep Breath, let my worries slide away...
We were lucky to have some good weather and we just basked in sun for about an hour, watching the sailboats float by.

Friday night we went into Brighton for dinner and some exploring time. Then on Saturday we went for a long walk on the beach before heading into Brighton for the night.

We were so thankful to be by the water again. It was a perfect weekend.
