The Mid-Winter Carnival was last weekend. The theme was Under the Sea and for three weekends before you could sign up to make a lantern in the parade. We didn't make one this year, but we are going to next year, you get to keep the lantern and be apart of the parade. They had a great turn out this year and 10,000 people showed up, they closed down the streets around the octagon and had food and rides for the children. We had a wonderful time celebrating the returning of the light!

The sunset that night was amazing. Kit and I were walking down the hill to town and we had to turn around over and over because we were so amazed by the sunset. I think it is the best sunset we have seen here in New Zealand.
