The All Whites, (NZ soccer team) played their last game of the World Cup on Friday morning. The game was being shown live here at 2am, and a group of us decided to head out to a sports bar and watch the game. Kit and I were laying in bed about 1:15am when are alarm went off thinking do we really want to make the trip down to a bar to watch the game, when all we have to do is get up and go in the next room. BUT we decided it would be more fun if we were with our friends for the game. I'd had only an hour of sleep and Kit never really fell asleep before the game started, so we didn't think that we'd make it past half time. Plus NZ was playing Paraguay, who was ranked way above them. Once we got up and drove down to the bar, we were getting pretty excited. New Zealand hasn't been in the World Cup since 1982. They made there first goal at the first set of games ever in a World Cup, so Kit and I and the rest of NZ was pretty excited that they could make to the next round of games if they won this game. We met up with about 8-10 other friends and it was so invigorating to be around other fans and people who were all just as tired as we were but still pumped to be watching the All Whites. There is a room in the bar that has stadium seating and a big screen for sports events. The only seats available were seats on the floor, but we pretended that we weren't sitting on a bar floor. The All Whites played a great game and ended up tying with Paraguay, however a tie was not enough to get them onto the next round. In the end, we were both very glad that we had gotten up to watch the game.
