Hot Springs Arkansas trip

On Monday, Kit and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary!! We celebrated by taking a long weekend to Hot Springs Arkansas. It is a wonderful town with bathhouses where you can soak in the nature hot springs, massages, hiking, crystal mining and so much more. Hot Springs is a town inside of a National Park. It is beautiful. If you ever get a chance it is a great vacation and we stayed in a cute house close to downtown through VRBO.

On Thursday night we drove to Memphis and on Friday we went to

GRACELAND!!!!!

I was a big Elvis fan growing up and it was a dream of mine. It was expensive but fun. Elvis sure had some eccentric taste.

Once in Hot Springs, we went crystal mining for quartz crystals. We spent about four hours looking for quartz and we found a ton. We had a blast. It is has been something I want to do for years. If you didn't know I love rocks and crystals.

They take dirt from a quarry like place and put it on top of this hill, then you get to dig through and find crystals. We found some really nice six sided quartz.

Here is Kit washing them off.

and me with one of my favorite big cluster of quartz rock we found. It was awesome.
The water is hot springs is safe to drink because it is always about 135 degrees. There are spots around town where you can fill up jugs to drink.

A view of the town from up high.

one of the hot springs

Kit testing out the water. It was so hot you could only keep your foot in for about 2 seconds.

Hiking

A cool sculpture in the botanical gardens. It was very high and we have no idea the purpose or meaning of it.

Kit loves pretending to be in an herbal essence commercial.

A church in the botanical gardens. all glass. I would love to go to a service here.

A view of the trees through the glass. it made the ceiling look like a forest or fairy land..
And a beautiful bridge to end on...
We had a blast! This year has been perfect. We came home ate year old wedding cake, (not too bad), had some champagne and watched our wedding video. ahhhh.

hi there! you're officially bookmarked--I'll be checking in :)

I was just reading about h.springs the other day--I would love to go there sometime. Was it somewhat reasonably priced (hotel, spa stuff, etc.?)

Happy Anniversary, wishing you many more happy years together!

Susie,

We stayed in a great house for about 100 a night. The spas were 15-20 for the hotsprings and about 45 for 30min. massage. But everything else was reasonably priced. You should totally go!
